(12/12)
Began: Week of 3/3/08
Finished: Week of 5/19/08
I highly recommend this; write three goals for the week of things you want to accomplish, write them down where you will see them. I recommend adding one fun one just so you don't get demoralized. I intend to resume this in universidad.

3. Read a mystery, /a non-fiction, a science, /Pulitzer Prize winner, /a classic, /a Gossip Girl, a sci-fi, /a sad book, a self-help, /a graphic novel
Sad book: Completed!
4/7/08
Night by Elie Weisel
An account of the holocaust's concentration camps. Probably the saddest book I've ever read, but really more horrifying. Everyone should read it.
Non-Fiction: Completed!
8/3/08
Madam Secretary by Madeleine Albright
One of the most inspiring books I have ever read. At a hefty 664 pages, it admittedly can become exhausting, but I feel like this is a sign of good writing - Albright communicates the incredibly hard and never ending work that foreign relations presents, while still presenting a message of hope and responsibility. Thanks to this book, I have been inspired to enter work in preventing genocide and human rights crimes. Yay, activism!
Gossip Girl: Completed!
8/5/08
Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar
Okay, so I needed an intellectual break after the hefty Albright book, so sue me! It was exactly the cerebral vacation I was needing, so now on to tackle... 1000+ page long Infinite Jest??
Maybe some Party Monster or David Sedaris before I take that plunge!

Graphic Novel: Completed!
2/11/09
Watchmen by Alan Moore
Okay, guys, I've never read a comic book before but seriously, this is so good. Like, SO good. I read it in two days, couldn't put it down. Oh man.
A Classic: Completed!
3/25/09
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Pretty much amazing. Took a long, long time, even though it wasn't that long. Just very... Russian. Lol, good thing that's my major, right?
A Pulitzer Prize Winner: Completed!
3/16/10
The Brief, Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
I would recommend it. Interesting, with a really awesome and hilarious writing style. Not recommended if you don't know Spanish though, Diaz throws a lot of random Spanish in just normal narrative that you kind of need to understand.
A Mystery: Completed!
12/20/10
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson
I read this book really quickly, and it was entertaining, but I don't think mysteries are my genre.

///47. Get a REALLY heavy metal CD and enjoy it.
Completed!
8/20/08
The band is called Between the Buried and Me. They were recommended to me by a guy at a Bright Eyes concert, of all places, which is surprising because of how very metaly this band is! I remember the guy gave me his iPod to listen to this song, which he loved because it switched from metal to acid jazz in one song. So, I remembered his advice, and here we are. I'm still a little unnerved by the screamy scariness, but I bet if I ever get really pissed off I will come to love it. Oh yeah, the CD is called The Silent Circus.

///62. Visit Share Friday at SEP
Completed!
8/1/08
I am SO glad I accomplished this one. Being at SEP as a visitor only was indeed really weird, but I was infinitely grateful to see these amazing people again, to see that the camp goes on year after year giving new kids such great experiences and to be inspired for those pictured and more to become the new generation of SEP counselors and admin, for us to keep it going! ///73. Attend Democratic National Convention.
Completed!
8/25/08
I am really excited about this one, because of all of my goals, I honestly thought this would be the one to fall through, even though it is one of the most important to me. I volunteered canvassing for Rock The Vote all day, and by doing that I found out about a youth voters press conference, held inside the convention center. I thought that you needed all kids of crazy credentials to get in, but it turns out you only need the passes for the places where the bigshots hang out, like the floor and all that. The press conference was great / inspiring, and being where its at for this once-in-a-lifetime experience was totally totally awesome.
